Case Study : Gloria Taiwo

Gloria Taiwo

Previously attended: Cedar Mount high School
Studied: A Level Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and AS Biology and Further Maths

"All the tutors are very inspiring and easy to talk to. During my time at Hyde Clarendon I have been involved in the NUS and helped to organise fundraising events for charity. Part of my coursework included an educational visit to Liverpool to attend a Chemistry seminar . I intend to pursue a career in the RAF when I have completed my studies at Sheffield University studying Aeronautical Engineering."

Case Study : Jacob Woodward

Previously attended: Audenshaw High School
Studied: History, Business Studies, Psychology and ICT "I chose Hyde Clarendon after attending the Open Day and taster days. It seemed like the ideal Sixth Form for me with it’s calm and relaxed environment and a variety of courses to choose from.

During my first year at HC I have been on the 'Go Ape' trip and taken the Driving Theory Test as part of my enrichment activities. In the future I would like to go to university and eventually join the Police Force."

Case Study : Bethany Connolly

Bethany Connolly

Previously attended: Alder Community High School
Studied: BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport

Bethany is a popular student who takes part in many enrichment activities including, Football, Badminton, Softball, Basketball, and Netball. She participated in a college trip to Italy and took part in a one mile charity run for Comic Relief. Bethany comments, “I chose to come to Hyde Clarendon because I heard that they had a fantastic success rate. I enjoy the friendly atmosphere around the college not just from the students but from the tutors as well”. “The tutors are always there for you if you need any extra help with an assignment. I am hoping to go to Leeds or Manchester Metropolitan University to study Sports Coaching. I eventually would like to have a career in Sports Coaching or become a PE Teacher”.

Case Study : Joseph Thomas

Joseph Thomas

Previously attended: Egerton Park Arts college.
Studied: BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts (Dance)

Joe excelled at Hyde Clarendon, and through his hard work and dedication became an outstanding performer. He is a great role model for all students and is always well prepared for lessons and conducts himself in a professional way. Joe is an impressive dancer who has the ability to stand out in large performances and as a soloist. Joe has now gained a place at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, based in Leeds. Joe, comments, “I enjoy all the different styles you get to develop which help you become a versatile dancer. After my training at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, I hope to perform with a professional dance company”.

Dance Lecturers, Michelle Cross and Jody Morgan, commented, “Joe arrived a timid young man with a dream to perform professionally. During his time with us, Joe worked steadily and conscientiously towards achieving his goals. He has set the standard high and has more than proved himself to be worthy of a place at The Northern School of Contemporary Dance. We are unbelievably proud and excited for him and are completely confident he will succeed. We will follow his career with interest”.

Case Study : Alima Ahmed

Alima Ahmed

Previously attended: Hyde Technology School
Studied: Biology, Chemistry, English Literature

Alima helped to organise the High School Challenge and she has joined in the Gifted and Talented activities held at Hyde Clarendon. She is looking forward to continuing her studies at Sheffield University where she will be studying Archaeology.

Case Study : Melanie Dykes

Melanie Dykes

Previously attended: Longdendale High School
Studied: English Literature, English Language and Law.

Melanie is a member of the N.U.S. and Student Forum and has helped raise money for various charities including Children in Need and Red Nose Day.

Melanie comments, “Hyde Clarendon is a small college so the tutors have enough time to dedicate to helping you achieve. Everyone gets on really well so people enjoy coming to college and going to lessons. After my studies here I hope to get a place at Manchester Metropolitan University. I’d like to eventually become a Law Teacher and progress onto a Masters Degree to lecture at Universities”.

Case Study : Nazia Khan

Nazia Khan

Previously attended: Hyde Technology School
Studied: BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma Childcare Learning and Development

“I heard good things about this college and the facilities, and it’s also very easy for me to get to. Whilst at Hyde Clarendon I have also taken part in a number of fundraising and enrichment activities including raising money for ‘Children in Need, attending university open days and learning Relaxation and Massage Techniques and First Aid”.

Nazia, intends to pursue her studies at the University of Manchester in view to becoming a Primary School Teacher.

Case Study : Jade Dixon

Jade Dixon

Previously attended: Bury Church High School
Studied: Chemistry, Human Biology, Maths, Psychology

Jade has enjoyed many activities at the college including, making soap as part of the Chemistry Enterprise Project, and competing in college competitions. Jade has also gained an Extended Project Qualification and completed the Manchester Access Programme. Jade comments, “I love the small classes here it’s like our own community and it makes you feel like everyone matters. After my A Levels I hope to gain a place at Manchester University and aspire to become a Doctor”.
