Minimum Entry Requirements

VRQ Level 2 in Hairdressing
Entry requirements Level 1 Hairdressing or 4 GCSEs Grade D or above (one of which must be English)

VRQ Level 3 in Hairdressing
Entry requirements Level 2 Hairdressing plus Level 2 English qualification

VRQ Level 2 in Beauty Therapy
Entry requirements Level 1 Beauty or 4 GCSEs Grade D or above including English

VRQ Level 3 in Beauty Therapy
Entry requirements Level 2 Beauty Therapy plus Level 2 English qualification

VRQ Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing

1 year course
Level 2 Hairdressing develops the skills involved to become a professional hair stylist. It gives students the opportunity to develop and demonstrate a creative flair in the subject as well as
developing excellent customer care and professional working relationships.

The course covers all aspects of hairdressing including: Client Consultation, Client Care, Shampooing and Conditioning Hair, Colouring, Reception Work, Health & Safety, Promoting
Additional Services and Products and Creating a Positive Impression. The units are assessed by a portfolio of practical work, along with underpinning knowledge written assessments
and assignments.

Progression: Level 3 Hairdressing or employment.

VRQ Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing

1 year course
This course is designed for experienced hairstylists or as a progression from Level 2.This gives students the opportunity to further develop practical skills and their artistic flair. It also develops retail and promotional knowledge and is a stepping stone for ambitious students who wish to further their career in the industry. This can lead to management within the industry.

This course includes: Consultation, Health & Safety, Contribute to the financial effectiveness of the business, Fashion Colouring
Techniques, Advanced Cutting Techniques, Advanced Colour Correction Services, Long Hair Work, Advanced Hair Styling and Finishing Hair. The units are assessed by a portfolio of practical work, along with underpinning knowledge assessments. You must have one day per week in a salon placement.

Progression: Full time employment or university.

Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy

1 year course
The course covers all aspects of Beauty Therapy including Manicure, Pedicure, Facial Treatments, Waxing, Lash & Brow Treatments, Health & Safety, Reception Skills and
Make-up.

Progression: NVQ Level 3 in Spa Therapies, NVQ Level 3 in Nail Technician, Diploma in Complementary Therapies.

Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy

1 year course
Full-time programme including one evening per week and a compulsory one day per week placement in a Salon. Entry requirements are VRQ Level 2 beauty Therapy and Level 2
English qualification or equivalent.
